This week’s flurry of #strangemercy tweets finally paid off this morning as St. Vincent’s viral campaign to unlock the first glimpse of Annie Clark’s forthcoming LP, Strange Mercy, came to a halt with “Surgeon,” a gorgeous synth-washed jam streaming above or available as a free MP3 here. It’s a stunning preview, and yet we haven’t even heard those pointillist guitar-driven tracks said to be a centerpiece of the set.
